Picture Stories

Moonlight flooded the passageway and staircase.

Over the threshold it was a different picture: an arrangement of chairs collected around the table with a meal; seemingly in progress, but abandoned or interrupted.

Bottles and plates of food were interspersed with pages from a newspaper, cigarettes and the ash-tray. This last item was heaped with spent matches and stubs.

Raised voices could be heard from the adjoining room.(J. Gibbs)

Picture Stories is collaboration between illustration and painting students of Edinburgh College of Art, UK and students at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, USA.

The brief centres on students responding to short written narratives. Students from ECA would send their ‘stories’ to smfa and vice versa.
